If I regard iniquity (sin) in my heart, the Lord will not hear me:
Psalm 66:18
Regard – give attention to
Confess – means to name your wrong and admit you are wrong; what a freeing you will experience. It’s like receiving wings to freely fly: Because unconfessed sins produce a path of unrighteousness. That leads to making decisions and acting according to your sin.
Meaning: your lifestyle has been developed from unconfessed sin; you made choices based on sin.
Always present a confession of cleansing; because it’s an experience you will always want to experience. It’s an alignment that comes into play and places you in your rightful position in front of God. You actually feel yourself adjusting to connect with God as you are admitting you are wrong.
Confessing your wrong doing is the best medicine for a Believer. It is the gate way into the presence of the Lord. It is the path of righteousness, a path that will guide you into your destiny planned by God. Confessing unlocks your mind to thinking, clearing and seeing what you could not see with unconfessed sin blocking your vision God has for you.
Once you confess that you have done wrong/sinned Christ does not hold your sins and wrong doings against you. He just wants you to confess. Jeremiah 31:34, Romans 11:27, Luke 1:77, Hebrews 8:12
Sin does what it is supposed to do, cripple you, keep you bound in every area of your life. You may sin in one area but it will corrupt in every area if not confessed. It leaks into places and hides behind shame, guilt and humiliation, all that derives from unconfessed sin.
When we ask for forgiveness we are actually forgiven. Our problem is that we don’t believe it. It could be the most hideous crime and the most untasteful act of sin committed; and it’s forgiven. It’s how we live in it that keeps us holding on to it. Because these acts of sin are coming out of us, it’s hard to believe we can be forgiving. – “how could I be forgiven of this over and over and over again?” But, God! When the sweet words of forgive me Lord for I have sinned reaches past the forces of evil and into the heart of God, we are forgiven and a refresher is restored. (say what you did and face your wrong) and turn from it. Over 2000 years ago your sin was forgiven, but you have to know that.
Side Note: we move forward through the Word of God…for it is the Word of God that gives us the ammunition to believe we are forgiven. It must be a factual thought not an emotion.
I tell you the truth, confession will send you into praise….
We can’t let unconfessed sin keep us bound, we must let it go. To enjoy the fruit of our labor in Jesus Christ.
Confession of sin is not for God, it is for you. He has already died for our sins. Our confession restores us back into fellowship and our confession is also for our mental state. We need to know that we are forgiven! This is so that we may function in our Christian Walk, because without the confession of sin we fall by the wayside.
When we come into the knowledge of Him and accept Him, we receive understanding that we have been pardoned (forgiven), because of His strong love for us. So, the confession of sin is for us – it frees us up from the weight of guilt, shame and feeling unforgiven. We are both flesh and spirit. The flesh part of us can handle the sin – up to a point, somewhat. But it is the spirit of Christ that now dwells within us that will not tolerate the sin and so it compels us to confess. And in confession we have even more of an opportunity to talk to God.
He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.
Proverbs 28:13
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
1 John 1:9
