Studying God’s Word is imperative for a Born-Again Christian. It’s extremely important that we understand that Studying is significant as Salvation; you cannot have one without the other. The Word of God shapes and structures your born-again- life by discarding the old you (with the Word), and developing the new you (by the Word.)
James 1:18
Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.
Studying your way into worship is to develop a deep love and respect for God. The Word will begin working on the inside of you, changing you from emotionally serving God to factually experiencing Him.. It brings you to a place of hope as the Holy Spirit begins to break off understanding that leads to Faith…; as the truth of the scripture comes alive to you. The word becomes your truth, what you believe for yourself. The understanding takes a hold of you and will not let you go until it’s settled within you.
Please note – the Word will not change from it’s content and it’s meaning, but at the same – time speak to where you are in your life. Also know that, when you sit before the Word of God, your past, your present, and your future is before you….
Studying removes the person who comes to the table to study and welcomes the heart it desires to be.
2 Timothy 3:16:17 (King James) All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
Complete Jewish Bible Translation 2 Timothy 3:16-17
All scripture is God breathed and is valuable for teaching the truth, convicting sin, correcting faults and training in right living…
You will have so many God moments during your study time that will strengthen and cause you to look for ways to please God. The experience of the Word is like none-other. What a change that comes to the individual who desires to study. The more you study, the more you believe. You get to know Him in a way that assures you of your personal relationship with Him.
The scripture states in John 10:10 – The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
Absorb the Word
2 Corinthians 10:5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
We must study God’s Word as if it’s the air we need; this is our life pursuit after Salvation to Jesus Christ. We have not arrived at Salvation, we have only just begun. Absorb the Word of God, it will show you-your life to come; take your time and meditate with the Holy Spirit through the pages of righteousness. It’s your daily mirror that will reflect your right and you wrong. But most of all, the Word will LOVE YOU and teach you love.
Studying is a part of your relationship with Jesus Christ……..
Eph. 1:13
In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
(2 Timothy 2:14-15) King James
Of these things put them in remembrance, charging them before the Lord that they strive not about words to no profit, but to the subverting of the hearers. (Subverting – undermining those that are listening, lessening the effectiveness)
15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
16 But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.
Amplified Version
(2 Timothy 2:14-15) Remind the people of these facts, and solemnly charge them in the presence of God to avoid petty controversy over words, which does no good, and [upsets and undermines and] ruins [the faith of] those who listen.
15 Study and do your best to present yourself to God approved, a workman [tested by trial] who has no reason to be ashamed, accurately handling and skillfully teaching the word of truth.
16 But avoid all irreverent babble and godless chatter [with its profane, empty words], for it will lead to further ungodliness,
Study means to make great efforts to follow after Christ in the word of God. It’s the highest level of Christian education-in understanding your repentance, salvation, and being born again. In this pursuit of the Word you place yourself in agreement with the Word; as Christ approves your efforts in seeking Him.
Study – is the devotion of time and attention to acquiring knowledge, a detailed investigation and analysis of a subject or situation
