Studying God's Word (the Bible) is one of the most important factors in pursuing intimacy with God. The essence of Who God is can be found and experienced through His Word. Through it, He reveals Himself, He shares His likes and dislikes, He gives us guidance for how to handle any situation and He tells us the many wonderful things that come from a relationship with Him. Many who believe in God the Father and in Jesus Christ still live frustrated lives because they don't know what God's Word has promised and don't know how to access those promises. Don't let this be you!
If you desire to be closer to God, then studying His Word is essential. The Word of God teaches us so much! Studying God's Word is the first step to identifying who you are to Christ and to yourself. You begin to change as you are studying and the more your study the more you change. (He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked. 1 John 2:6)
Have a dedicated time to study
Make sure you set this time aside just for Him - it cannot be rushed! This is a precious time you don’t want to miss. You may have many other commitments and obligations that prevent you from studying for hours a day - most people do. What is most important is that you set aside the time, that you honor it whenever it is and the quality of the time. If you have a window to study, make sure you honor that time without distractions or interruptions. The more you put into it, the more you will get from it.
Waiting

Your heart/mind/body to receive the presence of the LORD (suggestions for how to do this) – PRAYER, HAVE A QUIET SPACE, HAVE A BIBLE AND NOTEBOOK
Confession
Turns the Father towards you. Imagine the Lord is walking around in Heaven and you begin to confess your sins and He begins to turn towards you…Psalm 143:1
Believe
Know! that He’s hearing you call for Him and know that He will answer you
Humility
Humble yourself before the Throne (state of mind) (bow in prayer), Release (explain)
Quickening
A jolt, nudge, or push within you that happens as you are receiving what the Father intends for you to know and understand. The revelation will be so clear because it’s God speaking and it gives no room for questioning.
